Ch. 7 – The story behind the story

This case is a troubling one – why include in the book something so esoteric and unusual, particularily when the doctor did not even know about the vital sign recheck? We did have a problem – historically 85% of cases at trial decide for the defendant physician, so in a book with 10 cases, we would have 9 for the doctor. This case settled and was a good opportunity to discuss why cases go to trial, the risk of not paying a small amount to settle, and the final diagnosis by one of the national leaders on the topic.
